For a lot of people, their family health is currently giving them cause for concern. Job and financial worries are usually the leading causes, but there are others as well.

Here are 5 reasons that you need to be aware of the health of your family.

1. Stress at work is common at any time, but during the current financial situation, your workload may have increased, and your team or budget may have decreased. This means that you might have much more work to do, or targets to meet, or need to work longer hours or travel more. You might be relying on fast food, or snacks which can also affect your health and stress levels. This could be taking its toll on you and your family.

2. For the majority of workers, there is a risk of job losses. Perhaps your company has had few orders than normal, or your shop has seen fewer customers, or more customers but not buying as much.

You might be involved with luxury, or non-essential items that people are not buying at the moment, like cars or houses, or holidays. All these situations could mean that there is a risk of some people losing their job. As companies look for ways to become more efficient and spend less money, it could be that there are certain departments

3. If you are currently not working, and are doing everything you can to find a new job, you are likely to find that there are hundreds, if not thousands of people in the same sort of situation, and possibly even going for the same jobs as you. Unemployment can mean that you don’t feel your normal self, or sometimes you feel “useless” or “worthless” because you can’t get a job. Your partner or children might also be in the same situation. Teenagers who can’t get a job can also have the same feelings as an adult who can’t get a job.

4.

You might have taken your annual leave and have taken some time off to spend with the family. This can lead to more stress and arguments as people spend more time together. If you only normally spend the weekends together, spending a couple of weeks

5. Money issues are also causes of stress, especially if money coming in has been reduced, perhaps due to one person losing their job, or ever increasing bills. You may feel as though you have economised as much as you can, and still can’t make ends meet, or that you have let the rest of the family down, as you can’t take the children on holiday, or for days out, or treat them in other ways. You might have been forced to completely change your shopping habits and buy less fresh fruit and vegetables.

Any or all of these situations may occur in your household, and it’s important that you act upon them sooner rather than later. You might need to seek medical advice if you think that you can’t cope. You might want financial advice if you are struggling to pay bills, or you might just need to give your family the support and reassurances that they need. You might also want to make sure that you and your family are getting your 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day.
